Crowns and Souls are special types of items in A Hat in Time only attainable in Vanessa's Curse (DLC).
Crowns[]
According to the the Snatcher, Queen Vanessa has crowns for "every day in the year". Taking advantage of this, Snatcher hires Hat Kid to steal these crowns to spite Vanessa for locking him up years ago. Indeed, Vanessa will get angry at the players for taking her crowns, cursing players into being her puppets to stop the players still working for Snatcher.
In the team of Snatcher's Minions, the players must try to get a certain amount of crowns for the Snatcher and survive in order to win the round. Any crowns each player gets is permanently kept in their inventory. The player can then exchange crowns with the Snatcher in the lobby for new customizations. However, the amount of crowns a player has will not decrease as they only need to reach a certain amount of crowns to buy an item from Snatcher, which does not take away any crowns.
Souls[]
In the team of Vanessa's Puppets, the players must try to curse the other players on Snatcher's team for Queen Vanessa in order to win the round. Any number of players each player successfully tags is permanently kept as souls in their inventory. The player can then exchange souls with the Badge Seller in the lobby for new customizations. Unlike crowns, souls are spent on the Badge Seller and will decrease as a result.
